Privacy declaration
By providing personal data, you grant permission to Hogeschool Gent (hereafter called HOGENT) to register and process this data. HOGENT is responsible (the ‘controller’) for processing this information . HOGENT - or parties appointed by them - will register and process this data in accordance with the Law on Privacy and the General Data Protection Regulation. They will only register and process data for the purpose of executing the educational contract you entered into with the school and to comply with legal obligations.
HOGENT will also transmit student data to the Flemish Database for Higher Education (DHO).
Data pertaining to social background that are collected in the context of the educational contract, will only be processed and analysed statistically in an anonymous fashion. These analyses only serve to monitor progression through higher education in order to develop supportive institutional policies and help determine whether the social make-up of the student population matches that of the wider community.
Other optional uses of personal data (e.g. providing contact information to inform you of activities beneficial to your education or career) will be submitted to you for approval in separate privacy agreements as the occasions arise.
HOGENT ensures it will take appropriate organisational and technical measures to protect your personal data against loss or any type of unlawful access or processing.
HOGENT will save your personal data only for the period necessary to realise the goals for which the information was collected. The standard period of storage is fifty years unless it is explicitly stated otherwise or unless a legal exception applies.
You can review your permission and your personal information via iBaMaFlex at all time. You have the right to correct or delete your personal information and/or retract your permission to use your information for any of the purposes mentioned above.
